Andrew Murphy

Andrew is Chief Operating Officer of The John Lewis Partnership - the parent group of Waitrose supermarkets, John Lewis Department Stores and John Lewis Financial Services.
Reporting to the Partnership's Executive Chairman, Dame Sharon White, Andrew is responsible for the delivery of the organisation’s business transformation & operating plan as well as leading the Supply Chain, Technology and Property functions.
Now in his 30th year in the organisation, Andrew started his career as a sales assistant in John Lewis, spending his formative years in roles focused on running and developing the Partnership’s department stores.
Prior to taking up his current role Andrew held Group roles as Executive Director, Operations, Chief Information Officer and Group Productivity & Change Director, before which he spent five years as Retail Director of John Lewis.
Over the last twenty years Andrew has undertaken a number of sector leadership roles, including chairing the Scottish Retail Consortium from 2016 - 2019 and directorships of The New West End Company and London First.
Andrew is also a Board Director of Clicklink - one of the UK’s leading eFulfilment logistics providers, a member of the Treasury / Bank of England Central Bank Digital Currency Engagement Forum and the Industry Chair of the Scottish Government’s Retail Industry Leadership Group.
