Joaquin Mencía is the Chief Innovation Officer at Chalhoub Group, the largest retailer and distributor of luxury brands in the Middle East and North Africa. He oversees the different innovation efforts across the Group including Corporate Innovation, Beauty
& Fashion Innovation, The Content Factory, and The Greenhouse, Chalhoub Group’s space for bold
entrepreneurship.

Joaquin has spent most of his career between telcos and startups, in roles surrounding innovation,
new business models and revamping corporate transformations. He is also an accomplished
business angel, with a focus in Emerging Markets (LATAM, MENA & Africa). Prior to that, he was the
founder of Keatz, largest virtual restaurant company in Europe, and was a founding member at
Telefónica Digital, the innovation & corporate venture arm of Telefónica Group, launching different
businesses within the Retail, IoT and Media verticals.

Joaquín obtained his MBA at IE Business School, where he is also an Associate Professor, as well as
an MBA from Rotman School of Management. He also holds a BA from the University of Navarra.
